Where does my donation go?
Your donations help APFJ support public service journalism to ensure that everybody has access to information on issues of everyday importance.
Our work also encompasses helping local outlets to modernize their operations, from production and distribution to revenue diversification. We need to continue developing technology and providing expertise to make local newsrooms stronger and more self-sufficient for years to come.
Local news is a foundational pillar of civic life, but it needs independent support to ensure free and fair reporting as a public service for the long term. Your donations help us to make a real difference in the future of local journalism.
How do matching gifts work?
Some companies operate matching gift programs to make charitable donations to organizations chosen by employees. Usually, an employee makes a charitable donation to a specific organization and the employer, if participating in a matching gift program, will match the employee’s donation, typically up to a certain limit or at a set ratio (e.g., 1:1).
Some employers may also match gifts from spouses, retirees, or surviving spouses of retirees. The employee is typically responsible for initiating the matching gift request and following up to ensure the organization receives the matching funds. Contact us at [email protected] if you need information regarding gifts to APFJ.
Can I make a bequest to APFJ?
Bequests and planned gifts are usually designated for future use and play a critical role in the long-term sustainability of the foundation’s mission. Retirement account donations, charitable trusts or bequesting long-term support is of immense value to APFJ’s mission to make a difference to local journalism. If you’d like APFJ to be part of your legacy then speak to your legal or financial advisor and contact us to make arrangements.
Can I donate in honor or memory of someone?
The loss of someone we love is hard, but leaving a lasting legacy in their memory can feel a positive step. If you would like to make a donation in memory of someone, please contact us to make arrangements.
